PM Vishwakarma: In order to give artisans and craftspeople complete, end-to-end support, the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises launched PM Vishwakarma, a Central Sector Scheme. This program offers incentives for electronic transactions, market-related support, training in skills and modern tools, and collateral-free credit. Initially, the program will last for five years, ending in 2027–2028.The Government introduced the PM Vishwakarma Scheme in 2023-24. The Scheme was launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister on 17.09.2023.

PM Vishwakarma Main Objective:

  • To offer credit assistance to craftspeople or craftsmen who are involved in the activities allowed by the schemes.
  • Provide assistance for more advanced and contemporary tools in order to improve their capacity, output, and product quality.
  • to lower the cost of borrowing by offering interest subvention and give the recipients simple access to credit without collateral.

PMV Purpose:

  • To make it possible for craftspeople and artists to be recognized as Vishwakarma, which would allow them to receive all of the Scheme’s benefits.
  • To give them opportunity for suitable and relevant training and to upgrade their skills in order to improve them.
  • To offer support for newer and modern equipment in order to improve their capacity, output, and product quality.
  • To lower the cost of credit by offering interest subvention and to make collateral-free credit easily accessible to the targeted recipients.
  • To offer rewards for online purchases in order to promote these Vishwakarmas’ digital empowerment.to give them a platform for market connections and brand development in order to open up new growth prospects.

Implementation Agencies/ Agencies involved :


The following Ministries/Departments collaboratively carry out the scheme:

Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises Ministry (MoMSME).

Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Ministry (MSDE).

Ministry of Finance (MoF),

Department of Financial Services (DFS).

Eligibility Critiria:

  • Applicant must be Indian Citizen
  • Self-employed in the unorganized sector, artisans or craftspeople use their hands and tools to perform traditional family-based specialized trades.
  • 18 years old is the minimum age to register.
  • Only government-specified activities are eligible for loans.
  • At the time of registration, the applicant must be actively involved in the trade and must not have taken out any similar loans from Central or State Government programs within the previous five years (with the exception of returned MUDRA and SVANidhi loans).
  • Eligibility for the first credit support tranche of up to Rs. 1 lakh requires completion of five days of Basic Skill Training and Skill Verification.
  • For recognition and program benefits, artisans obtain a PM Vishwakarma ID Card, Digital ID, and Digital Certificate after verification.
  • Husbands, wives, and unmarried children are the only family members who can register and get benefits.

Who are not Eligible?

  • Members of the armed forces and their families are not eligible.
  • The application would be sent to the bank through the SIDBI portal after government officials have checked all the requirements.
  • The applicant should not have availed loans under similar credit-based schemes of the Central Government or State Government for self-employment/ business development, e.g. PMEGP, PM SVANidhi, Mudra, in the past 5 years.
  • The registration and benefits under the Scheme shall be restricted to one member of the family.
  • The Government both state and central Job holders.

Application Process:

Online through CSC Centers
i) The eligible beneficiaries must enroll themselves with the local CSC that is nearest to them.
(ii) The recipient may apply individually or with the help of the CSCs via Enumerators or Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs).
Signing up:
First Step: Click “Login” in the top-right corner of the “PM Vishwakarma” official portal. Click “CSC – Register Artisans” after that.

This will take you to the registration area.

2)Step 2: Click “Continue” after selecting “Yes” or “No” for the set of questions on the “Registration Now” page. Enter the 6-digit OTP that was sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile number on the “Aadhaar Verification” page. Press “Continue.”

Enter both your Aadhaar number and your Aadhaar registered mobile number on the following page.

Press “Continue.”

3. The application process is to go to the nearest CSC and complete the Biometric Verification Process.
Step 2: Click “Submit” after entering all required information in the online application form. Make a note of the “Application Number” on the following screen for your future reference. Click “Done.”

Verification and Validation:


Step 1: Eligibility verification via the the ULB or Gram Panchayat level.
Step 2: The District Implementation Committee reviews and recommends the applications.
Stage 3: After confirming the beneficiaries’ eligibility, the Screening Committee will grant final permission for their registration.

Benefits Under PM Vishwakarma:

After a successful three-step verification process, the craftspeople and artisans will formally register as ‘Vishwakarmas‘ under this scheme. They will be given

PM Vishwakarma ID Card,

PM Vishwakarma Digital Certificate,

Digital ID.

The certificate will allow the candidates to be recognized as Vishwakarma, which will allow them to receive all of the VK Scheme’s benefits.

BANK Perspective Requirements or Required Documents:

  • Applications will only be considered if they are submitted via the Vishwakarma site.
  • A Udyam registration number is required.
  • Collateal security is not required.
  • CGTMSE coverage will secure the limit.
  • Tranches for Working Capital Demand Loans (WCDL):
  • Loan amount:
    First Tranche: 18-month term, up to Rs. 1 lakh.
    Second Tranche: 30-month duration, up to Rs. 2 lakh.
  • The applicant must comply with our bank’s KYC requirements based on their Aadhar in CBS.
  • No margin and no up-front costs for inspection and documentation.
  • SIDBI will offer the CIC scoring, and there won’t be a minimum score requirement.
  • ROI: 5% for standard accounts following the Ministry’s interest subsidy
  • Aadhaar, a mobile number, bank account information, and a ration card are all necessary for registration.

Things to Remember:

Note: 1 A beneficiary would have to present the Aadhaar cards of every member of their family if they did not have a ration card.
Note: 2 In the event that the beneficiary does not currently have a bank account, the CSC will be responsible for assisting them in opening one.
Aadhaar card, a mobile number, bank account information, and a ration card are all necessary for registration.
